Youth “POLYRHYTHMIA” Ensemble
The Youth Polyrhythmia Ensemble was created as a natural extension of the legacy of the renowned percussion ensemble “Polyrhythmia,” with the aim of nurturing the next generation of outstanding percussionists in Bulgaria. The initiative brings together some of the most promising young talents selected from the leading music schools and institutions across the country, forming a high-level artistic platform focused on excellence, discipline, and creative development.
Founded on the pedagogical principles and artistic vision established by Prof. Dr. Dobri Paliev, the ensemble serves both as an educational laboratory and a professional performance unit. Its members are carefully chosen based on their technical ability, musicality, and potential for growth, and are guided through an intensive process that combines individual mastery with ensemble precision.
The Youth Polyrhythmia Ensemble explores a wide and demanding repertoire, ranging from contemporary percussion works and original compositions to adaptations of classical and folkloric music. A strong emphasis is placed on rhythmic complexity, sound control, stage presence, and collective awareness, reflecting the distinctive identity of the Bulgarian percussion school.
Beyond its artistic mission, the ensemble functions as a bridge between education and the professional stage. Through concerts, collaborations, and participation in festivals, its members gain invaluable performance experience and exposure, preparing them for future careers as soloists, orchestral musicians, and educators. The project also reinforces the continuity of a unique tradition, ensuring that the methods and artistic standards developed over decades are preserved and further evolved by a new generation.
